In the events of the Ramayana, when Ravana abducted Sita Mata and took her to Lanka, Lord Rama decided to go to Lanka to bring back his wife. Lanka was an island across the sea, and Lord Rama and his monkey army needed to cross the sea to reach Lanka.
Lord Rama prayed to the Sea God to provide a path, but when the Sea God did not respond to his prayers, Lord Rama displayed his power. The Sea God appeared and apologized to Lord Rama. He suggested that the monkey army build a bridge using stones to cross the sea and reach Lanka.
Under the leadership of the monkey chiefs Nal and Neel, the monkeys began bringing stones and placing them in the sea. In their childhood, Nal and Neel used to trouble the sages by throwing stones in the water, causing splashes. To address this, the sages affectionately blessed them with a boon that any stone they threw into the water would not sink but float. As a result of this boon, the stones placed by Nal and Neel floated in the water. Additionally, an amazing fact was that when the name "Rama" was written on the stone, it would start floating in the water. Thus, the monkeys constructed the bridge by chanting Lord Rama's name.
This bridge is known as Rama Setu. The monkey army, through their hard work and devotion, completed the construction of the bridge, allowing Lord Rama and his army to reach Lanka. The construction of Rama Setu helped Lord Rama and his army in waging war against Ravana and bringing back Sita Mata.
The story of the construction of Rama Setu teaches us that true devotion, unity, and hard work can overcome any difficulty. The remarkable journey of Lord Rama and his monkey army inspires us that every problem can be solved with devotion and patience.
