In the Ramayana, when Lord Rama was sent into exile for 14 years at the behest of Kaikeyi, he left for the forest with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. At that time, his younger brother Bharat was at his maternal grandparents' house.
When Bharat returned and learned that Lord Rama had been exiled and their father, King Dasharatha, had died from grief, he was extremely saddened. Bharat was very angry with his mother, Kaikeyi, and said that she had committed an injustice. Bharat refused to become king and decided that he would bring Lord Rama back and make him the king of Ayodhya.
Bharat, along with Guru Vashishta and other citizens of Ayodhya, set out for the forest where Lord Rama was staying. When Bharat reached Lord Rama, he pleaded with him to return to Ayodhya and become king. Lord Rama said that he had to honor his father's word and complete the 14 years of exile.
Bharat took Lord Rama's sandals (khadau) and placed them on the throne of Ayodhya, symbolically accepting Lord Rama as the king. Bharat wore the sandals on his head and vowed to live an ascetic life until Lord Rama returned from exile and would rule Ayodhya.
The reunion between Bharat and Lord Rama was extremely emotional and filled with love. This event showed everyone how deep the true love and respect between brothers can be.
From this, we learn the importance of duty, respect, and love. The reunion of Lord Rama and Bharat provided an unparalleled example of brotherhood and loyalty.
