In the great saga of the Ramayana, when Lord Rama's wife Sita was abducted by Ravana, Lord Rama sent Hanuman to Lanka to search for Sita Mata. Using his incredible powers, Hanuman crossed the ocean and headed towards Lanka.
On the way, a demoness named Surasa appeared in Hanuman's path. Surasa had received a boon from the gods that anyone who entered her mouth would become her meal. She stopped Hanuman and said, "You must surrender yourself to me as my food."
Hanuman politely replied, "I am a messenger of Lord Rama and I have an important task to complete. Please let me pass." But Surasa did not relent and tried to swallow Hanuman.
Using his intelligence, Hanuman enlarged his size. Surasa also enlarged her mouth. Then Hanuman suddenly reduced his size and assumed a tiny form, quickly entering and exiting Surasa's large mouth. He then respectfully said, "Now I have entered your mouth and fulfilled your condition, so please let me go."
Surasa was impressed by Hanuman's cleverness and humility, and she blessed him and allowed him to pass. Hanuman proceeded to find Sita Mata and conveyed Lord Rama's message to her.
This story teaches us that any difficulty can be overcome with wisdom and patience. Hanuman's cleverness and courage helped him overcome obstacles like Surasa.
