Bal Ramayan- The Establishment of Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga

In the story of the Ramayana, when Lord Rama decided to go to Lanka to defeat Ravana, he resolved to build a bridge (Setu) to cross the ocean. To construct this bridge, Lord Rama sought the help of the monkey army, and under the leadership of Nala and Neela, the bridge was built.

After the completion of the Setu, Lord Rama marched towards Lanka and killed Ravana. After slaying Ravana, Lord Rama thought he should atone for the sin of killing a Brahmin because Ravana belonged to a Brahmin lineage. For this, he decided to worship Lord Shiva.

Lord Rama sent his devotee Hanuman to Mount Kailash to bring a Shiva Lingam. However, Hanuman was delayed in returning. The auspicious time for the worship was approaching, so Goddess Sita made a Shiva Lingam out of sand. Lord Rama established and worshipped that Shiva Lingam, which became famous as the "Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga."

When Hanuman returned with the Shiva Lingam, Lord Rama also established that Lingam and declared that whoever worships the previously established Lingam at this place would receive special blessings. Thus, the Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga was established.

The story of the Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga teaches us that true devotion and sincere faith in God can be fulfilled in any circumstance. This place became sacred and significant due to the worship performed by Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.
