After some time, Ravana decided to avenge his sister Shurpanakha's nose being cut off by planning to abduct Sita. In this plan, he sought the help of a demon named Maricha. Maricha was a mystical demon who could transform into any form. Ravana instructed Maricha to take the form of a golden deer so that Sita would be enchanted by it and Lord Rama would venture into the forest to catch it. Maricha took the form of the golden deer and started wandering near Lord Rama's ashram in Panchavati.
Sita saw the golden deer and requested Lord Rama to catch it for her. Leaving Lakshmana to protect Sita, Lord Rama pursued the golden deer. Maricha led Lord Rama far away, and eventually, Lord Rama shot Maricha with his arrow, killing him.
As Maricha was dying, he called out in Rama's voice, "Oh Lakshmana! Oh Sita!" Hearing this cry, Sita urged Lakshmana to go help Rama. Before leaving, Lakshmana drew a protective line, known as the Lakshman Rekha, around Sita and instructed her not to cross it.
This cunning plan of Maricha gave Ravana the opportunity to abduct Sita. Thus, Maricha's plan succeeded in drawing Rama and Lakshmana away from the ashram, allowing Ravana to kidnap Sita.
The story of Maricha's demise teaches us that deceit and treachery are always wrong, and ultimately, evil faces defeat as a result.
