Long ago, Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana went to the forest to perform penance with their guru, Sage Vishwamitra. In that forest, a fearsome demoness named Tadaka was causing terror. With her dark magic, Tadaka had turned the forest into a dreadful place, making it impossible for the sages to complete their penance without fear.
Sage Vishwamitra requested Lord Rama to rid the forest of this fear by slaying Tadaka. Lord Rama decided to follow his guru's command. He engaged in battle with Tadaka using his bow and arrows.
Tadaka was very powerful and attacked Rama and Lakshmana, but Lord Rama, with his bravery and patience, defeated her. By slaying Tadaka, Lord Rama freed the forest from her terror. All the sages in the forest were very pleased and blessed Lord Rama.
In this way, Lord Rama performed a great deed by slaying Tadaka and demonstrated that by following the path of courage and righteousness, any evil can be vanquished.
